The team of SEC educators is comprised of individuals who are committed to the purpose, vision and values of the school as well as wholeheartedly committed to every child who walks through its doors.
Mrs. Boe serves as our 3-5th Language Arts and Science Teacher. Mrs. Boe has many years of experience working with children varying from public school system, leadership service programs abroad, homeschooling her own children, and leading children’s outreach both locally and at the state level. Mrs. Boe has lived in the Black Hills since 2002 and enjoys spending time, when outside of the classroom, with her husband and four daughters. She is committed to the Spearfish community and passionate about its children growing and maturing into whole human beings.
This is Ms. Moore’s first year teaching at SEC and is the enrichment teacher for all grades. She worked with children for several summers giving tennis lessons and also was involved in a children's after school program during the school year. Ms. Moore finds immense joy in providing a platform for each child to discover something they can be passionate about.
Mrs. Allender serves as the Middle School and High School English Language Arts Teacher. This is Mrs. Allender’s second year of teaching at Summit Education Center. Before her time here, Mrs. Allender spent many years in various educational arenas. She graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelors in Education with a music minor. Mrs. Allender then taught in California in a private school, serving grades 4-6th while also developing the school instrumental band program. Mrs. Allender and her husband live in Spearfish and have been married 40 years They both enjoy spending time with their son and daughter in-law.
Mrs. Weaver has been our our Middle School and High School Mathematics teacher for two years at SEC. Mrs. Weaver has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathamatics from Black Hills State University and was able to homeschool her four children before coming to SEC. Mrs. Weaver enjoys spending time with her 7 grandsons and helping her husband with their family business whenever she has the opportunity.
Mr. Butler has taught at Summit Education Center for the past two years. He serves as the teacher for Middle School History, High School Geography, and PE. Mr. Butler has extensive experience working with children throughout the years such as children’s camps, foster agencies, and local youth groups. Mr. Butler also has played the role as assistant coach for high school baseball and is heavily involved in CrossFit as a coach at one of the local gyms in Spearfish. He enjoys physical and outdoor activities such as mountain biking and is raising three boys with his wife here in Spearfish.
